New guidelines published by the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) on April 30, 2024, now recommend women to begin receiving mammograms at 40. As Evita Singh, M.D., diagnostic radiologist, director of breast imaging and member of the Breast Cancer Multidisciplinary Team at Karmanos, explained, these updated recommendations help clear up some confusion about when to begin breast cancer screening for patients and their providers.
