Welcome to
McLaren's Academic Center for Medicine Clinics

Our Academic Center for Medicine Clinics, located across the state, provide expert, compassionate care for patients of all ages and for a variety of medical conditions. Our clinics accept a variety of major health insurance plans including Medicare and Medicaid.

Our physicians work in teams at our Academic Center for Medicine clinics. You will be seen primarily by a resident physician. Residents are doctors who are completing a three-year residency program to become board certified; they work closely with our expert faculty physicians to create a seamless patient experience. Therefore, you will have two physicians taking care of you, as well as our dedicated clinical staff.

Lifestyle medicine is a way to help people stay healthy by looking at their whole life, not just their medical problems. It focuses on six important areas that can help treat and even reverse serious diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

Six pillars of lifestyle medicine:

  • Nutrition: Eating healthy foods, like fruits and vegetables, to keep your body strong.
  • Physical Activity: Moving your body everyday with exercise, like walking or playing sports.
  • Stress Management: Learning ways to feel calm and relaxed, like deep breathing or meditation.
  • Restorative Sleep: Getting good sleep at night so you feel rested and ready for the day.
  • Social Connections: Making friends and spending time with family to feel supported and happy.
  • Avoiding Risky Substances: Staying away from things like tobacco, drugs, and too much alcohol.

Both family medicine and internal medicine are primary care specialties. They both offer preventive care, such as checkups, health-risk assessments, and immunizations. Family medicine clinics treat patients of all ages and can treat a range of conditions. Internal Medicine clinics treat adult patients 18 years or older and are trained to diagnose and treat chronic diseases and illnesses.

Family Medicine:

  • Family medicine doctors see patients of all ages. That mean they take care of everyone, from newborn babies to older adults.
  • They provide primary care, which includes regular check-ups and preventative care to help people stay healthy.
  • Family doctors can help with a wide range of health issues, whether it’s a child’s check-up or care for an older person.

Internal Medicine:

  • Cares only for adults, usually starting at age 18.
  • Specializes in treating adults with complex or multiple health issues.
  • Doctors are experts in diagnosing and managing serious medical conditions.

In IPC, behavioral specialists are a part of your care team. Your physician and the behavioral specialist work together to bring you the best care available and help you meet your health and wellness goals. With IPC, we treat the whole person, including physical, mental, and behavioral health needs.
