Overview

McLaren Bay Region is a 415-bed acute tertiary care hospital in Bay City, Mich. Accredited by The Joint Commission, the hospital provides specialty care, primary care, and preventive care. Services include cardiovascular, neuroscience, orthopaedics, oncology, women’s health, and rehabilitation. McLaren Bay Region’s emergency department treats nearly 40,000 patients each year and is certified by the Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center.

Information for Applicants

The Family Medicine Practice is the hub of the Residency's ambulatory care experience. As a model family medicine practice, both faculty and residents provide high quality health care for a diverse population in the Bay Region. It is here that resident physicians care for their own panel of patients, assuming an increasing responsibility over the three years of training.

Located on Center Rd, about a 1/2 mile from McLaren Bay Region and includes:

Services offered at the Center include a comprehensive range of care/procedures:

  • Innovative and state-of-the-art point of care ultrasound
  • Diagnostic bedside ultrasound
  • Ultrasound guided procedures
  • Prenatal and postnatal care
  • Colposcopy
  • Dermatological procedures including skin biopsies, lipoma and cyst removal
  • Cryotherapy
  • Closure of uncomplicated lacerations
  • I&D of abscesses
  • Surgical treatment of ingrown toenails
  • Casting and splinting
  • Joint Injections
  • Trigger point injections
  • Nexplanon and IUD insertion
  • Osteopathic Manual Therapy
  • E-stim and therapeutic ultrasound
  • Other minor office procedures

Annual Salaries (Effective 2024-2025):

PGY-1 = $57,165.00
PGY-2 = $58,879.95
PGY-3 = $60,646.35

DISCLAIMER: The Graduate Medical Education Trainee Physician Agreement is posted here as a "sample only" to give applicants an idea of what to expect as a contracted employee of McLaren. This agreement is reviewed annually and thus the language is subject to change.

All applicants must be a medical school graduate with an MD or DO degree. In addition, applicants must have US citizenship or legal residency status in the US (green card or refugee status) in order to be eligible for an interview. Visas are not sponsored.

All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA, or must be a Canadian citizen or Canadian permanent resident who is eligible for J-1 visa sponsorship.
