The McLaren Wound Care Clinic specializes in treating acute and chronic hard-to-heal wounds. The clinic recently welcomed a general surgeon and two additional podiatric specialists to the care team. This specialized team of doctors and nurses is solely dedicated to treating wounds, including many that have resisted healing after months and even years of traditional treatment. McLaren was the first area hospital to offer hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy and the care team uses only proven, advanced treatment techniques. The types of wounds treated include vascular leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, surgical or traumatic wounds, and wounds caused by edema, cancer, radiation treatment, burns, infections and scleroderma.
Our Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Program has a long history of successfully treating diabetic wounds, complications from radiation therapy, chronic bone infections, non-healing skin grafts or flaps, and crush injuries. Studies have shown that hyperbaric oxygen therapy increases an individual’s ability to heal wounds. The use of HBO in combination with advanced wound care has been proven to prevent amputations. Mark R. Williams, DPM, has been affiliated with the McLaren Wound Care Center since 2003. Dr. Williams earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (Kent State University) in Cleveland before completing a three-year foot & ankle surgical residency in Houston, Texas. Dr. Williams is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Michigan Podiatric Medical Association. At McLaren Wound Care Clinic, Dr. Williams is actively involved with limb salvage and has one of the highest healing percentages in the field.
Michael Eigenberg, MD, is a general surgery specialist at the McLaren Flint Wound Care Clinic. Dr. Eigenberg has over 10 years of experience in the medical field. He earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska's College of Medicine. He has worked in the field of wound care for more than three years and has outstanding healing outcomes. Dr. Eigenberg is able to treat wounds from head to toe and is excited to partner with our referring providers to achieve healing for their patients.
Krysta Schroeder, DPM, trained in the most advanced technologies for foot and ankle surgery, is excited to be a part of the McLaren Wound Care team. Born and raised in the Detroit metro area, Dr. Schroeder earned her doctorate from Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. She then completed her podiatric surgical and reconstructive residency at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, where she served as chief resident. Dr. Schroeder is a certified wound specialist physician licensed by the American Board of Wound Management. She is trained in all aspects and ailments of the foot and ankle ranging from diabetic foot care to lower extremity reconstructive surgery and trauma.
Jason Weslosky, DPM, is a podiatric surgeon. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he completed his undergraduate degree in kinesiology – movement science. He earned his medical degree from Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. He then went on to complete a three-year surgical residency at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township with an emphasis on trauma, rearfoot/ankle reconstruction and minimally invasive surgery. He served as chief resident in his final year. Dr. Weslosky already has proven outcomes in some difficult to heal patients.
