Psychiatry Consultation and Liaison Service
The Behavioral Health Center provides a safe, supportive environment with 24-hour monitoring for adult patients struggling with depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or other mental illnesses.
Our multi-disciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, and therapists who specialize in psychiatric care. Our professional team conducts a thorough evaluation to determine the possible causes for the patient's distress and how we can assist in a positive outcome. Our clinical team assesses to see if there are any underlying medical or biochemical origins to these symptoms. The team encourages the patient to attend daily groups and/or individual therapy sessions, as well as promoting family involvement and "self help". When ready for discharge, the treatment team coordinates after care services with appointments and follow-up arrangements.
The Behavioral Health Center at McLaren Bay Region devotes 23 beds to provide individual treatment interventions for adults, 18 years and older who require 24-hour psychiatric services.
