McLaren Flint is Genesee County's Only Comprehensive Stroke Center
Time is Brain in Stroke Care! McLaren Flint's Comprehensive Stroke Center strives to bring the most evidence-based care available to patients experiencing stroke through established stroke care protocols at all McLaren Stroke Network locations. Our performance in giving clot-busting medications, opening clogged vessels in the brain, and caring for patients with other conditions leading to deficits in brain function is carefully studied and compared to national, local, and Joint Commission targets and benchmarks.
McLaren Flint was the first hospital in Genesee County to earn The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Heart-Check mark for Advanced Certification for Comprehensive Stroke Centers in 2016.
McLaren Flint is among an elite group of health care organizations across the country that are focused on highly-specialized stroke care. To be eligible, hospitals must demonstrate compliance with stroke-related standards as a Primary Stroke Center and meet additional requirements, including those related to advanced imaging capabilities, 24/7 availability of specialized treatments, and providing staff with the unique education and competencies to care for complex stroke patients.
