Emergency Psychiatric Services
McLaren Port Huron's Emergency Psychiatric Services (EPS) provide 24-hour-a-day clinical assessments through the Emergency Room by a psychiatric Registered Nurse. Through the assessment, it is determined what level of care would be best for the patient, and assistance is provided in finding the appropriate treatment. A psychiatrist makes the final decision regarding admission and referrals based on the symptoms of the patient.
The EPS nurse will also facilitate direct admissions onto the inpatient Mental Health Unit from other facilities/offices in which the patient has been medically evaluated by a physician and found to be in need of inpatient mental health treatment.
