A Skilled Team
With board-certified orthopedic surgeons, the team at McLaren Macomb has extensive experience in treating a wide variety of bone, muscle, and other joint problems. Many of the surgeons are also fellowship-trained to specialize in areas such as spine, hands, ankles, knees, hips or shoulders.
As technology evolves, the department continues to expand its robotics capabilities. That means surgeons are offering more minimally invasive procedures that lead to a faster healing process.
For hip replacement or knee resurfacing, McLaren offers MAKO robotic arm-assisted surgery.
With MAKO robotic arm-assisted surgery, surgeons use the highly advanced RIO robotic arm technology, which allows a new level of precision and accuracy in aligning and placing knee or hip implants. For the patient, this means less pain and a faster recovery time.
McLaren Macomb also specializes in diagnosis and treatment of spinal diseases and conditions, lumbar spondylosis, cervical radiculopathy, herniated disc, lumbar radiculopathy and laminectomy.
The Orthopedics team also includes specially trained nurses, therapists and clinicians who work together to provide patient-focused care. They strive every day to provide an advanced level of care that includes plenty of encouragement and support.
To help make surgery more comfortable and convenient, McLaren Macomb offers a number of benefits:
- The Surgery Center at McLaren Macomb is designed for patient convenience, with accessible parking and onsite registration.
- Operating areas and scheduling are more efficient, so there's less time waiting before surgery and fewer delays in getting started with surgery.
- The hospital offers a Joint Replacement Class four times a month to help answer questions and inform patients about what they may expect during the hospital stay. Keeping patients informed helps them to take a more active role in their preparation for surgery and the recovery process. The pre-admission testing nurse will register joint replacement patients for the class during the pre-screening process.
