McLaren Flint is a verified trauma center which is an accreditation given by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Specially trained emergency physicians and nurses triage each trauma patient in order to provide focused care. Six board certified trauma surgeons participate in the assessment and surgical care of these patients. The Medical Center's three trauma bays, located inside of the Emergency Department, are well-equipped with the latest technology available to facilitate the evaluation, diagnoses, and treatment of these critically injured patients.
Trauma Team
Dr. Michael Mueller, a Board Certified General Surgeon and ACS Fellow, is the medical director of the McLaren Flint Trauma Program. He completed his surgical residency at Wayne State University in 1995, was Assistant Clinical Professor for the Department of Surgery at Michigan State University from 1997-2011, and currently is Associate Clinical Professor for the Department of Surgery at Michigan State University.
Dr. Fras is the orthopedic surgery liaison to the trauma program. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Michigan State University in 2012 and an orthopaedic traumatology fellowship from Vanderbilt University in 2013.
Dr. Lopez-Negrete is the neurosurgery liaison to the trauma program. He completed his neurosurgery residency at Wayne State University in 1975 and has been a board certified neurosurgeon since 1980.
Dr. Rudoni is the emergency medicine liaison to the trauma program. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Beaumont in 1995 and emergency medicine fellowship in 1996. He is currently the Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at McLaren Flint.
Nursing staff receives continuing trauma education including Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
