President, Karmanos Cancer Hospital & Network

Brian Gamble
President, Karmanos Cancer Hospital & Network

Brian Gamble is president of the Karmanos Cancer Hospital and Network. He oversees operations of 16 locations, including the Karmanos Cancer Center in Detroit and the Karmanos Cancer Network cancer and radiation centers in Michigan and Ohio, anchored by the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. The Karmanos Cancer Network is the largest cancer research and provider network in the state and one of the largest in the U.S.

Since becoming the president of the Hospital and Cancer Network, Gamble has led efforts in the continued growth of Karmanos, intending to bring the NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center’s groundbreaking treatments and high-quality care to more communities across the state, as well as upgrading medical technology across the cancer network. In 2023, he spearheaded the acquisition of a new PET/CT scanner at Karmanos Cancer Hospital that improved scanning capability and time and provided the latest technology to permit Karmanos researchers to apply for grants and perform research-related testing. He played a significant role in opening the Karmanos Cancer Institute – Roseville in southern Macomb County in 2023 and has broken ground on a new location in Dearborn; both centers are multidisciplinary ambulatory clinics.  These ambulatory expansions begin a multi-prong approach to expanding cancer services to the communities Karmanos serves.

Prior to becoming the Hospital and Cancer Network president, Gamble was Karmanos’ chief financial officer. During this seven-year tenure, Karmanos tripled the size of its Lawrence and Idell Weisberg Cancer Center in Farmington Hills, and Gamble was a pivotal contributor to the organization entering the Ohio market with the opening of the Karmanos Cancer Institute at The Toledo Clinic Cancer Center in Maumee.

Gamble has over 40 years of business experience in treasury operations, investment management, debt management, financial analysis, accounting, and mergers and acquisitions. He previously served as vice president of finance and assistant treasurer at Henry Ford Health System and as the chief financial officer at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital. He earned a dual Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Ferris State University.
