Vascular Services
McLaren Port Huron provides state-of-the-art diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of blood vessel, artery, and vein disorders including blockages, closures, and clots, giving patients access to innovative vascular surgery procedures that produce the best outcomes.
McLaren Port Huron's Heart and Vascular Specialists provide non-invasive vascular studies such as ultrasounds, segmental pressures, and pulse volume recordings to detect vascular disease. Ultrasound is the most important tool in the vascular laboratory. Large ultrasound machines are used to take pictures of blood vessels and blood flow in these vessels with color Doppler and pulsed Doppler. Segmental pressures and pulse volume recordings are other important tools used in a vascular laboratory. These tests are performed to locate the area of blockage in the arms and legs.
When is a vascular ultrasound indicated?
- To rule out aneurysm (an enlarged artery)
- To detect blood clots
- Identify and locate blockages
- Monitor blood flow to organs and tissues in the body
- After a physician's physical examination, testing in a vascular laboratory is often the first step in diagnosing vascular disease. Specific tests that will be done will depend on the patient's symptoms and the suspected vascular problems.

Heart and Vascular Screenings at McLaren Port Huron
Seven (7) Tests for $50
You have only one heart, so why not give it the best possible care? Unfortunately, that vital organ and the vessels that circulate blood throughout the body can show the wear of age, lifestyle habits and genetics. Fortunately, it's possible to assess the health of your heart and blood vessels with a group of seven tests. The results can gauge your heart and vascular health and tell whether you're at higher risk for a heart attack or stroke.
If you are at higher risk, you and your doctor can use the results to take steps to lower that risk. All test results are interpreted by a board-certified physician or another qualified medical professional.
The screening includes seven tests:
- Blood Pressure Measurement
- Body Mass Index Measurement
- 12-lead Electrocardiogram (EKG)
- Stroke Screening/Carotid Artery Ultrasound
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Ultrasound
- Peripheral Artery Disease Screening
- Blood Cholesterol and Hemoglobin A1c Measurements*
