McLaren Bay Region Named Among Nation’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers

McLaren Bay Region, part of statewide McLaren Health Care and Bay City’s leading provider of comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation, was named among America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers by Newsweek.

Inpatient physical rehabilitation provides intensive and around-the-clock treatment for those recovering from serious and complex conditions, such as orthopedic injuries from traumatic accidents to neurological conditions resulting from a stroke.

McLaren Bay Region is the only hospital in the Great Lakes Bay Region to be named to the list.

“While it is an incredible honor to be recognized, being included on these types of lists are never the ultimate goal,” said Stacey Klump, McLaren Bay Region Chief Nursing Officer. “Our focus has always been on providing the highest quality of patient-centric care. I cannot express enough my sincere appreciation and respect for our rehabilitation staff, who demonstrate unwavering dedication to our community while continuing to seek innovative means to raise the bar for excellence in care. Distinctions such as this can help us hold to that standard and provide a measure of confidence and assurance in the program for our community, patients, and their families.”

With an interdisciplinary team providing care, the 20-bed unit has been accredited for more than 30 years by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities as a Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Program for Adults as well as a Stroke Specialty Program for Adults.

The program and its care teams aim to promote patients’ self-sufficiency and maximizing their functional ability as they recover from their condition, with the ultimate goal being independence following their discharge.

Of the more than 1,100 facilities of this type in the United States, 300 of the top programs were included on the Newsweek list, which is now in its fifth edition. Programs are assessed on their quality of care, accreditation status, a survey of national experts, and patient reviews.
