The vision of staff on 11-tower of having a designated hospice suite for patients and their families, became a reality on February 1 of this year. That was the day it became available for use. The room is for category four patients and above. Preference for use will go to actively dying patients regardless of status. The hospice team will also have priority use of the suite. Should you have any questions about the room during normal business hours, please reach out to Jason Metevier, nurse manager on 11 at extension 22023. If you need assistance after normal business hours, please call the nursing office at extension 22177. Inquiries can also be made through the hospice team. The room was made possible by generous donors during a fundraising campaign overseen by the McLaren Flint Foundation. The suite is named in honor of two former hospital auxiliary presidents who lost their battles with cancer. Room amenities for the patients’ family members include couches and window benches that transform into sleeping stations, a shower, and a large wall monitor for virtual visits with friends and loved ones who cannot visit in person.
