The first year non-ob/gyn rotations will be completed in the first six months. This allows for the resident to focus on required rotations and provides better continuity in initial training on the obstetrical service.
- Obstetrics: 7 4-week blocks. Primary focus is obstetrics with direct supervision by faculty and senior residents.
- Internal Medicine: 2 4-week blocks
- Emergency Medicine: 4-week block
- Intensive care unit: 4-week block
- Pediatrics / Anesthesiology: 2 weeks each (with emphasis on newborn evaluation and resuscitation).
- General Surgery: 4 weeks
- Ob/Gyn Ultrasound: Continuity experience with:
• half-day hands-on ambulatory ultrasound clinic per week (in clinic or private ob-gyn office)
• A formal three-day ultrasound course with didactic and hands on training in ob and gyn ultrasound
• Ongoing experience with bedside ultrasound in Labor and Delivery
• This provides a greater than 1-month equivalent.
- Ambulatory Ob/Gyn: Continuity experience in weekly residency clinic is provided. This provides a greater than 1-month equivalent. This takes place in the multi-specialty resident clinic.
