Welcome to Our Internal Medicine Residency - McLaren Bay Region Program

  • A Message from the Program Director
    Parul Sud, MD

The guiding mission and philosophy of the Internal Medicine Residency at McLaren Bay Region is to teach, inspire, and guide internal medicine residents so that they may develop into caring physicians, astute clinicians, and ethical professionals. Our program aims to teach principles of lifelong learning by promoting an environment of inquiry. Active participation in scholarly activities such as quality improvement and research is a curricular requirement. Residents will receive training in general internal medicine and its sub-specialties, consistent with ACGME Program Requirements. We plan to provide a combination of robust didactics and clinical experiences to provide a well-rounded education, further supported by attention to resident wellbeing. Our residents are supported in their future pursuits, whether as sub-specialists, hospitalists, primary care outpatient providers, or traditionalists.

We are thrilled to announce the successful recruitment of our inaugural class of residents in July 2024, following the program's accreditation by the ACGME. Trainees are often hesitant to join a new program. We assure you that being a resident in a new program is extremely fulfilling because as you learn, you are also building a rich legacy for future generations of learners. Furthermore, working closely with faculty leads to a rapid professional growth trajectory, as we are already witnessing in our cohort of interns.

The physicians and staff at Bay are known to be polite, collaborative, and efficient professionals. Bay City is a beautiful location with a river running through it and boasts a low crime rate. The hospital provides much-needed services to residents of Bay City and its outlying areas which are often underserved. Thus, our trainees experience and learn from a rich variety of pathology.

I am excited to build this program with the collective vision of our residents, faculty, staff, and leadership team, and I invite you to join me on this journey. If Internal Medicine is your passion and becoming a resident at McLaren Bay Region interests you, please reach out via ERAS.
