"The Guardian Angel program helps recognize our outstanding team and lets them know they are appreciated."
Nothing eases the burden of hospitalization like someone who cares.
That is why the McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation has chosen to recognize employees who have gone above and beyond for patients through the Guardian Angel program.
Patients who nominate a Guardian Angel are encouraged to share their stories, telling everyone what impressed them most about the staff member.
Once a nomination is received, a secret award ceremony is planned to honor the employee. The Foundation was able to kick off the program in April with a presentation to Brandy Dean, a registered nurse at McLaren Greater Lansing.
Dean’s nomination included a message from the donor that read: “Brandy was so lovely while we made my grandmother as comfortable as possible in her last days. Our family is so thankful for her care and compassion.”
“I’m so excited to be able to celebrate the amazing staff at McLaren Greater Lansing,” said Courtney Silverthorn, Annual Giving Specialist at the Foundation. “This is quickly going to become one of my favorite parts of my job. Hearing patients and family members share stories of the compassionate care they receive always makes me proud to be a part of this team.”
Donations made through the Guardian Angel program support programs and projects throughout the hospital that make an impact on patient care.
Lynn Griffor, Chief Experience Officer and VP of Philanthropy, appreciates the opportunity to recognize those who work hard day in and day out to care for patients.
“The Guardian Angel program helps recognize our outstanding team and lets them know they are appreciated,” said Griffor. “Everyone at the hospital has an opportunity to make a difference in a patient’s stay. We want recognition to include not only bedside caregivers but support staff as well, mirroring our mission that everyone can deliver the extraordinary.”
Patients and families can nominate anyone at McLaren Greater Lansing through the Foundation website, www.mclarenloveslansing.org/angel.
