Description
In many cases, hernias have no symptoms. Hernias are most common in the stomach, but can also appear in the upper thigh, belly button, and groin areas.
Common signs of hernias include:
- Bump or bulging
- Feeling heaviness in the abdomen bloating
- Heartburn and/or chest pain
- Trouble swallowing
- Difficulty urinating
- Pain while exercising, lifting, straining and/or coughing or sneezing
- Itching, aching, burning, in the groin area or swelling in the scrotum
Hernias do not heal of their own. To avoid debilitating pain or disruptions of your every day life, join Dr. Shoshana Hallowell, McLaren Lapeer Region General Surgeon, for a free screening event.
Dr. Hallowell will perform physical examinations to assess for possible hernias.
