Job Shadowing / Observation Program at McLaren Thumb Region
The job shadowing experience is designed to be a one-time observation for four-hours. This job shadow experience does not fulfill any clinical or internship requirements; nor does it provide any hands-on experience. Job shadows are typically only available Monday through Friday.
The purpose of the Job Shadow/Observation Program at McLaren Thumb Region is to observe the day to day workings of healthcare workers, with a goal of gaining exposure to a medical environment to enhance future career paths and the knowledge base that the different occupations require.
The goals of this experience at McLaren Thumb Region is to assist participants in:

Observing the daily routines of health care workers

Begin to identify career interests in health care

Gain awareness of the academic, technical and service standards required in health care professions

As part of the application process, you will be required to complete the following:
Application Process for Job Shadow/Observers:

Applicants for the Job Shadow/Observation program will submit completed applications to Human Resources.

HR Health Coordinator or designee will verify applicants eligibility based on the Health Screening verification section of the application. Including, verification of parent consent for all applicants under the age of 18.
Students/Observers will be provided the same medical treatment as provided to employees, if injured at the hospital. The cost of the medical treatment shall be the responsibility of the student/observer.
