McLaren Northern Michigan Laboratory

The McLaren Northern Michigan Laboratory is a full service laboratory accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). The main laboratory location is on the lower level of the west building of the McLaren Northern Michigan hospital main campus. Click here to see all of our draw station locations.

Our Laboratory:

• Is staffed by over 70 laboratory professionals
• Performs ninety-eight percent of clinical testing ordered
• Sends reference work six days a week via courier to Mayo Medical Laboratories (MML) in Rochester, Minnesota

• Stringent quality control programs are an integral part of all testing.
• We participate in proficiency testing programs in conformance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment of 1988 (CLIA 88).
• Proficiency testing programs utilized are from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the American Proficiency Institute (API), and the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH).

In addition to utilizing the most modern instrumentation and equipment, we recognize that consistent accuracy and quality are the results of highly trained scientific staff. Our professional staff constantly reviews improvements and advances in clinical laboratory methodology. The McLaren Northern Michigan Laboratory is committed to ensuring the continued reliability of laboratory test data.
