MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich.—Dr. Thomas Alderson, an OB/GYN with McLaren Macomb, has been awarded the 2018 Distinguished Service Award from the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists. This is the highest honor awarded by the women’s health organization, whose commitment is to provide for women’s physical, mental and emotional health.
Dr. Thomas Alderson
Dr. Alderson was president of the organization for the 2014-2015 term. He joined the ACOOG while in medical school and has remained a member for the entirety of his 40-year career.
“I have aligned my career with the purpose of this organization – a dedication to the members of our College and to the educational aspect of our residency programs,” Dr. Alderson said. “To receive recognition from my peers in this outstanding organization is truly an honor and a highlight of my career.”
To earn this distinction, a member has “repeatedly and unselfishly given time and effort on behalf of the College” and “continually participated in the development of students, interns and residents in the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology.”
Through his office in Clinton Township, Dr. Alderson has been in practice with McLaren Macomb for more than 20 years after earning his degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.
