McLaren Bay Region Earns ‘Gold Seal’ Comprehensive Accreditation from The Joint Commission

McLaren Bay Region, the 415-bed acute care hospital serving the Great Lakes Bay Region, has earned the Gold Seal of Approval for Comprehensive Accreditation from The Joint Commission, the health care industry’s leading accreditation organization. An achievement representative of the exceptional level of safe, quality care provided within the facility, it was earned by the hospital’s continuous compliance to these high standards.

The three-year accreditation following a thorough, rigorous, and unannounced onsite survey in which evaluators reviewed several hospital departments and their operations, including emergency management, environment of care, and infection prevention and control, among others.

“We are very fortunate to have a dedicated team of providers and caregivers delivering high quality and compassionate care to patients who put their trust in us every day,” said Dr. Kenneth Parsons, McLaren Bay Region Chief Medical Officer. “Accreditation from The Joint Commission is validation of the collective efforts of our care teams.”

Part of statewide McLaren Health Care, McLaren Bay Region serves its communities’ needs with primary and emergency care, as well as several specialty services, including cardiovascular, neurology, neurosurgery, general surgery, orthopedics, women’s health and oncology via the Karmanos Cancer Network.

“For patients with medical needs requiring extended inpatient care, their focus should be on their health and ultimate recovery, and their trust in their providers and caregivers,” said Chad Grant, McLaren Health Care Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “Holding themselves to a high standard of patient-centric care, the team earning this accreditation boosts and solidifies the trust patients and the region can have in this facility.”
