McLaren Greater Lansing, part of statewide McLaren Health Care, has officially started the nearly $40 million project that will result in a freestanding emergency department and multispecialty medical office building, providing readily available access to commonly used health care services in Grand Ledge.
Located along Saginaw Highway, just west of Nixon Road, the groundbreaking of McLaren Grand Ledge was marked with a ceremony on June 12 attended by representatives from McLaren Greater Lansing, McLaren Health Care, and local officials, including Delta Township Supervisor Kenneth Fletcher, Grand Ledge Mayor Keith Mulder, and Michigan State Representative Angela Witwer.
Constructed is scheduled for approximately one year, with the first patient expected to be treated in the fall of 2025.
“We are incredibly proud and grateful to be in this position — to bring a level of health care previously not readily available to this community, and shovels in the ground today marked the first official step of making that a reality,” said Kirk Ray, McLaren Greater Lansing President and CEO. “We are eagerly anticipating that day next year when our providers treat their first patients and, with enhanced access to care, community members can take greater control of their health.”
With 8,500 of the building’s planned 33,680-square feet designated for the emergency department, the facility will allow for more convenient community access to diagnostic imaging and lab services, family medicine, and other various specialty services.
A full complement of emergency physicians and care teams will staff the 17-room emergency department, while the family medicine office can host up to five primary care providers. Both providers and patients will also be afforded the convenience of having various imaging modalities on-campus, with X-ray, ultrasound, and CT fixed units included in the current plan, along with access for mobile units to bring additional imaging capacity and procedures.
Plans also include office space to accommodate a rotating staff of specialists, such as cardiologists, neurologists, and surgical consultants.
