McLaren Clarkston Providing Breast Cancer Screenings for Uninsured Women

McLaren Clarkston Comprehensive Breast Center, in the spirit of building awareness for early detection during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is providing uninsured women with a clinical breast exam free of charge.

Hosted at the Comprehensive Breast Center on the campus of McLaren Clarkston Thurs., Oct. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the screening is open to women aged 40 and older currently without health insurance and who have not had a mammogram in the past year.

“We believe it is our duty as stewards for our community’s health and wellbeing to create accessibility to care,” said Lorenzo Suter, McLaren Oakland President and CEO. “When considering the potential lifesaving importance of a breast cancer screening and early diagnosis, this task becomes all the more critical, and we are proud to be in the position to offer this event.”

Free screenings include a clinical breast exam conducted by Amy Legghio, NP. A referral for follow-up care will be provided for women whose exams discover any suspected areas.

McLaren Clarkston Comprehensive Breast Care is located at 5701 Bow Pointe Drive, Suite 280, in Clarkston. Appointments can be made by calling (248) 922-6635 ext. 1.
