In March, McLaren Northern Michigan donated over 50 pieces of medical equipment to the ReLink Medical division of the Dalton Foundation, including a point-of-care ultrasound unit. This ultrasound unit has been donated to the Clinique Esperance de Vie organization in Terrier Rouge, Haiti. The OB/GYN physician on staff, which is rare to have in Haiti, was grateful for this donated unit. It will benefit countless women and help prevent unnecessary deaths and pregnancy complications. It also brings joy for a Haitian mother to get to know the sex of her baby before it’s born, something that has not been an option for Haiti residents until recently. For the physician, being able to offer ultrasound services adds a level of service few organizations in Haiti can provide and a confidence and pride in their work. McLaren Northern Michigan is humbled to be part of improved patient care half a world away.
