Karmanos VP of Marketing named to Michigan Chronicle’s Women of Excellence List

Michigan Chronicle has named 50 trailblazing women to its annual Women of Excellence List. This includes the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute’s vice president of Marketing and Business Development, Tamara Collins.

In an article, the Michigan Chronicle stated Collins, “uses her platform to promote awareness and early detection, crucial steps in combating cancer within our communities.”

She stepped into her VP role at Karmanos in 2023 and has delivered transformative brand strategy, strategic planning, integrated marketing, digital marketing and communications—all focused on advancing cancer care access and patient engagement. Throughout her career, Collins has dedicated herself to Karmanos and McLaren Health Care. Her passion for cancer research and development stems from both personal experience and professional drive. She truly believes in the power of community education, prevention, screening, and ensuring access to groundbreaking treatments typically found only at academic-affiliated centers. As VP, Collins develops and executes enterprise-level marketing strategies for the oncology service line within McLaren, aligning with growth objectives and expanding Karmanos’ footprint as a national leader in cancer treatment and research. She spearheads high-impact marketing campaigns with significant investments that drive patient volume, enhance brand preference, and reinforce Karmanos’ positioning as the best choice for cancer care. Collins stays abreast of local and national health care trends and uses that knowledge to translate market research, analytics, and competitive intelligence into actionable insights for the 17 locations throughout the Karmanos Cancer Network.

The 2025 Women of Excellence List contains women who are transforming communities and industries in Southeast Michigan. The industries represented by the women on the list span from law, transportation, education, health care and wellness, corporate automotive, marketing, arts and culture, and more.

Collins will be among the 50 women honored at the annual Women of Excellence Awards and Induction Celebration in March.
