Lori Shaw, trauma registrar and EMS liaison, was honored as the newest recipient of McLaren Greater Lansing’s Extraordinary Employee of the Season Award. This award acknowledges any employee in the hospital system for the extraordinary work they do.
Shaw’s nomination stated, “Lori had an immense impact on McLaren, the emergency department, and EMS during our recent downtime. Lori always goes above and beyond, but what she has done over the last several weeks is unmatched by anyone. She worked tirelessly over 50 hours a week to lead the paperwork process, communicate with EMS, coordinate supplies, and work as a unit coordinator. Her commitment to McLaren Greater Lansing’s success is outstanding. Her peers watch her in awe and have sent several letters to the leadership about her efforts. Lori is a true rockstar and shining light to our organization.”
Shaw also had a second nomination, which stated: “Lori has always been instrumental to our team, but her dedication truly shined through during our recent downtime. She went above and beyond to ensure the department and staff were able to provide the best possible care for our patients. Lori’s ability to help everyone feel at ease during stressful times has made her the go-to person for our team.”
Shaw has worked at McLaren for 30 years and worked as a unit coordinator and emergency department’s administrative assistant/scheduler before moving into her current position as trauma registrar/EMS liaison, where she enjoys being able to interact with the community and EMS personnel.
“It’s an honor to be recognized,” said Shaw. “My motivation has always stemmed from supporting my coworkers and the organization so we can provide the best care for our patients.”
The Extraordinary Employee of The Season award is given out to an individual each quarter. Nominees can be clinical or non-clinical staff at all levels and are chosen internally by McLaren staff.
