McLaren Central Michigan, part of statewide McLaren Health Care and the longtime leading health care provider for Isabella County dating back to its time as Central Michigan Community Hospital, is taking a moment to recognize and honor its history with the rededication of its Physician Hall of Fame.
Originally dedicated in 2006 with an inaugural induction class of 11 physicians from past medical staffs covering the hospital’s 81-year history, the Hall has grown to recognize 26 providers with regular additions over the years.
Following the induction of a class of four physicians in 2019, McLaren Central Michigan underwent an expansion and remodeling project that required the Physician Hall of Fame wall to be removed. Now prominently displayed outside the hospital’s administrative suite, representatives from McLaren Central Michigan’s leadership welcomed the return of the Physician Hall of Fame during its rededication ceremony on Fri., Oct. 25.
“This memorial is an effective reminder of the history of this hospital, the significance it holds in our community, and those who helped build that legacy,” said Robert David, McLaren Central Michigan President and CEO. “We are very pleased to now have a permanent home in which we can honor that history and proud to offer a place to reflect on how this facility and its people have significantly and positively impacted our community.”
With the assistance of Konwinski Construction, honorees’ plaques — refreshed in oak paneling — were reinstalled in a new display the previous week. And now with this reinvigoration of the hospital’s history, McLaren Central Michigan intends to add more providers to its Physician Hall of Fame in February 2025.
