McLaren Macomb, the 288-bed acute care hospital and trauma center serving all of Macomb County, has earned re-accreditation from The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization that evaluates, accredits and certifies health care organizations and programs throughout the United States. Accreditation from The Joint Commission certifies that McLaren Macomb has met rigorous national standards for patient safety and quality.
The 3-year accreditation was earned after an unannounced survey of the hospital, in which trained health care professionals thoroughly evaluated McLaren Macomb over several days. Patient safety and the quality of care provided were the primary criteria by which the surveyors measure.
“We are very fortunate to have a dedicated and talented team in this organization, who are determined every day to provide the best care to patients who entrust their health to us,” said Dr. Beth Wendt, physician and medical director of quality at McLaren Macomb. “The safety of our patients and the quality of the care they receive is our highest priority, and this re-accreditation is validation of the combined efforts of the whole team.”
McLaren Macomb has met the standards set by The Joint Commission, and in an official letter was informed that the hospital was granted accreditation for all its services effective until November 2021.
The hospital originally earned a 36-month accreditation in early 2016 and earned this re-accreditation with no lapse in accreditation from The Joint Commission.
