McLaren Oakland Views New SMART Bus Route as Eliminating Barriers to Health Care

McLaren Oakland, which hosts a frequented stop on multiple SMART Bus routes, is pleased to be included on its newly created and announced Route 759. With the route also servicing Auburn Hills, White Lake, and Waterford, it will enhance the community’s access to the level of care provided at McLaren Oakland in Pontiac for those who transportation is barrier to health care.

Tracey Franovich, McLaren Oakland President and CEO

Many members of our Oakland County communities count on our local public transit system as their source of convenient and reliable transportation. For many, though, transportation has been a barrier to them and their ability to access timely and necessary health care.

With this new fixed route and its stop at McLaren Oakland, a convenient and dependable transportation option reaches out further into Oakland County and can bridge the gap many experience when requiring routine medical care and even non-life-threatening emergencies. The stop is right outside our Pontiac emergency department, where patients can check-in online and the wait to be seen is often minutes.

We applaud the addition of this route and its indirect and supplementary achievement of helping to remove a major hurdle experienced by so many in our community when they need care.

This initiative reflects our commitment to improving health care accessibility and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to receive the care they need and will have a significant and positive impact on the overall wellbeing of the community.
