The women of The Pink Par-Tee of Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club recently presented representatives from Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Flint and the McLaren Flint Foundation with a $36,000 check to help support breast cancer patients.
"We are so pleased to be a recipient of the Pink Par-Tee's contribution," said Doug Glazier, Vice President of the McLaren Flint Foundation. "These funds help Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Flint to continue assisting women in Genesee County who are battling breast cancer."
The proceeds from the Pink Par-Tee's gift will go toward assisting women who are going through breast cancer treatment and will also help some women receive a mammogram. As breast nurse navigator Penny Wilkinson, RN works closely with each breast cancer patient, to identify women who may be experiencing challenges that can alter their health outcomes mentally and physically.
"This gift allows us to make sure our breast cancer patients are able to have basic needs while going through treatment," said Boyce. "That may include medication, food, heat and rent. It makes such a positive impact on our patients and we're grateful to the Pink Par-Tee for continuing their support throughout the years."
This donation was made possible with the amazing turnout of the Pink Par-Tee's 8th annual charitable event at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in June.
"We had to get creative to execute the events themselves this year," explained Nancy Gignac, Pink Par-Tee Chairperson. "Our golf and tennis events allowed for social distancing and we moved all activities to the course including a silent and live auction and many fundraising games. Numerous committed volunteers were required to make the events truly memorable for participants."
Title sponsors for this year's events were Security Credit Union and Eagle Excavation. To date, the Pink Par-Tee has raised over $420,000.
