MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich.—Tim Vargas has been announced as the chief operating officer at McLaren Macomb, the 288-bed acute care hospital in Mount Clemens. Vargas assumes the position made vacant after previous COO Chris Candela was named chief executive officer of McLaren Lapeer.
Vargas began his new position effective July 17, 2017.
“When looking to continue my career, McLaren Macomb proved to be a very appealing healthcare organization,” he said. “A dynamic organization, this hospital has demonstrated a capacity to grow and expand its services while maintaining a level of care our patients have come to expect.”
Vargas began his career as a radiologic and CT technologist, quickly rising into leadership positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as an administrator at Beaumont Health/Oakwood Healthcare in Dearborn.
“Tim brings the advantage of having spent his entire career in the healthcare industry, serving in several key leadership roles along the way,” said Tom Brisse, president and CEO of McLaren Macomb. “A forward thinker with a dedication to providing quality care, he will make an excellent addition to our hospital’s leadership team.”
After attaining his radiologic technologist degree, Vargas earned a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Services and Master of Health Administration from the University of Phoenix.
As chief operating officer, Vargas will participate as a member of McLaren Macomb’s executive team, providing administrative oversight and leadership to several of the hospital’s service lines and expansion projects, identifying and developing long-range planning and supporting the hospital’s values and culture of quality.
