Brenda Lovegrove Lepisto, PsyD, LP, is the Behavioral Health Academic Program Director in the McLaren Greater Lansing (MGL) Family Medicine Residency. Dr. Lepisto earned her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Central Michigan University. She completed her internship through The Devereux Foundation, Mapleton Institute, in Malvern, PA. Following graduation, Dr. Lepisto completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship through the Consortium for Advanced Psychology Training at Hurley Medical Center and The Whaley Children’s Center in Flint, MI. During fellowship, Dr. Lepisto received training in Health Psychology as well as Medical Education and was actively involved in teaching Michigan State University College of Medicine students and Hurley pediatric and internal medicine residents. Concurrently, Dr. Lepisto earned certification in adult and child psychoanalysis. Dr. Lepisto is a co-author of the medical textbook, “Smith’s Model of Patient-Centered Interviewing: An Evidence-based Model.” She is on the faculty of the Academy for Communication in Healthcare and a physician and life coach (ICF certification expected in 2021). Currently, Dr. Lepisto is responsible for teaching Health Psychology fellows, practicum students, Family Medicine Residents, and MSU medical students, focusing on behavioral and psychological components of health and treatment. Dr. Lepisto is the Co-Director of GME Wellness at MGL. Dr. Lepisto's research interests and publications include physician communication, empathy, medical education, child/adolescent psychotherapy, and healthcare professional wellbeing. She is passionate about integrating behavioral science teaching and interventions into medical education.
