BCBSM Specialist Value Based Reimbursement
MPP is pleased to announce the results of the 2025 BCBSM Specialist Value Based Reimbursement (VBR) program. The Specialist VBR program was developed to reward specialists for performance in population healthcare delivery by participating in responsibility for the cost and quality of care of a shared population of patients. It rewards specialists to engage in the Patient Centered Medical Home Neighborhood (PCMH-N) and their collaboration with primary care physicians.
VBR is administered through the Physician Group Incentive Program (PGIP) with your nomination from McLaren Physician Partners. Specialists are ranked into three tiers which for 2025 earn an increased value-based reimbursement over prior years of 112%, 106% or 100% of the BCBS Fee Schedule. In 2025, McLaren Physician Partners is pleased to announce that 72 Specialist Practice Units are earning Specialist VBR and 402 physicians are earning some level of VBR from BCBSM. Effective with dates of service from 3/1/2025 through 2/28/2026, BCBSM VBR is paid directly on your BCBS of Michigan Trust Commercial PPO claims.
