Karmanos Only Detroit Hospital to Earn Five Stars for Nurse Communication

Karmanos Cancer Center has once again received a five-star rating for nurse communication. Out of 586 hospitals across the country to receive five-star ratings for nurse communication, Karmanos is among just over 20 in Michigan and is the only hospital on the list located in Detroit.

The ratings are based on data from CMS’ Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), released on Aug. 13. The data, collected between October 2024 and September 2025, reflects patient feedback on whether nurses explained things clearly, listened carefully to them, and treated them with courtesy and respect.
