Physician Recruitment, Retention and Medical Residency

Support Our Family Medicine Residency Program

For more than a century, McLaren Northern Michigan has delivered exceptional medical care to our growing community and the countless visitors we serve each year. What makes our hospital truly special are the clinical staff who ensure that our patients are getting the same level of care that they would expect for a member of their family.

Our providers are highly trained specialists who are board certified in various fields, and they are also people with tremendous compassion and a commitment to our patients.

Growing this team to meet the needs of our community is a top priority for McLaren Northern Michigan. To do so, we’ve adopted a strategy that includes recruiting new talent and building our Primary Care Physicians by establishing a Family Practice Medical Residency program.

With donor support, McLaren Northern Michigan launched a Family Medicine Rural Training Track. This program plays a vital role in training future practitioners who are likely to serve in rural areas, addressing a significant gap in health care access.
By supporting our Family Medicine Residency program, you help ensure that we continue to attract and train top medical talent committed to serving our northern Michigan community. Your generous contributions will fund essential elements such as:

  • Comprehensive orientation and onboarding for new residents
  • Establishment of the Academic Primary Care Clinic, where residents will provide continuity care for their patients
  • Necessary renovations and state-of-the-art equipment for diagnostic, imaging, surgical, and critical care services

Your gift to the Residency Fund will directly impact the quality of health care in our region by supporting these dedicated professionals and their mission to deliver exceptional, compassionate care. Join us in shaping the future of health care in northern Michigan and ensuring access to primary care for all.

“I enjoy being able to spend time with patients both in the clinic and hospital setting. There’s no better feeling than knowing you are doing everything you can to care for someone.”
