Lawrence Colby Ward Jr., DO, Orthopedic Surgeon, has joined McLaren Northern Michigan Orthopedic Services located at 560 West Mitchell Street, Suite 560, in Petoskey, MI.
Dr. Ward was born in San Jose California, but grew up in Rochester, Michigan. Northern Michigan has always been a very special place for him, as he spent nearly all of his summers in the Petoskey/Charlevoix area where most of his family resides. Dr. Ward received his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed his residency at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, and finally a fellowship in trauma and advanced joint replacement in Minneapolis at Hennepin County Medical Center.
Dr. Ward was a varsity swimmer for Michigan State University and while on the team he met and worked with the orthopedic surgery team physicians. After sustaining a shoulder injury and witnessing first-hand the power of medicine, he knew he wanted to work in that field.
Dr. Ward has a passion for primary and revision adult hip, knee, and shoulder arthroplasty as well as all orthopedic trauma and general orthopedic procedures, including shoulder and knee arthroscopy.
“Northern Michigan has always been my favorite place to be,” said Ward. I am very fortunate to be able to do the job I love in an area that feels like home. Nothing makes me happier than being on and near the water.”
Outside of practicing medicine you will find Dr. Ward either on the water with his girlfriend and 2 dogs, snowboarding, or exploring new trails and restaurants in northern Michigan.
Dr. Ward welcomes new patients. To learn more about McLaren Northern Michigan Orthopedic Services visit McLaren.org/NorthernOrtho or call (231) 487-5400.
