McLaren Northern Michigan Opens Urgent Care, Increasing Access to Timely Care

After announcing its plans to increase community access to timely health care with the launch of an urgent care center, McLaren Northern Michigan, part of statewide McLaren Health Care, is pleased to share that McLaren Northern Michigan Urgent Care is now open.

Located at 1890 US-131, near Plaza Drive in Petoskey, the office is also home to McLaren Northern Michigan Primary Care. The urgent care is an expansion of the office, with the primary care clinic remaining open and caring for patients.

“All of us in our organization are excited to be able to expand our services and thrilled for the convenience it will provide our patients and their ability to access care timely and efficiently,” said Gar Atchison, McLaren Northern Michigan President and CEO. “As with any of our growth projects, we are confident that this latest expansion will bolster the care we offer within Petoskey, enhance our patients’ overall experience, and provide our community with the reassurance that high-quality care is always within reach.”

Featuring seven treatment rooms in addition to a procedure room, the urgent care is staffed with a full complement of providers and care team capable of administering prompt treatment to patients with a range of conditions: viral illnesses, lacerations requiring stitches, and minor orthopedic injuries, including bone breaks and fractures not requiring surgery, among other common, non-life-threatening conditions.

X-ray imaging will also be available on-site, and serving both the urgent care and primary care clinic.

McLaren Northern Michigan Urgent Care will operate 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, while McLaren Northern Michigan Primary Care will maintain its hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

When announcing plans for the urgent care in early 2025, Chad Grant, McLaren Health Care Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, said, “The focus and motivation of our expansion efforts are always aimed toward projects that conveniently develop patients’ connection to their care. With this expansion, McLaren is keeping and strengthening its commitment to serve the patients and families of Petoskey and the surrounding communities and provide them with the level of care they deserve.”
