Our Wound Care Program

Your First Wound Care Visit

When you come in for your initial visit, our staff will evaluate your wound and general health. They will also review your medical history and may take a blood test. You may also need special tests that give us information about blood flow and oxygen flow in the wound area.

Your Treatment Plan

We will put together a treatment program based on your special needs. This program will include regular visits to the clinic to provide treatment, evaluate progress and make any changes that might be needed. A dermatologist or other specialist may be consulted depending on your specific skin care needs. You (or your caregiver) will be given detailed instructions in home care, dressing (bandage) changes and protecting the wound from further injury.

You Are A Vital Part of The Wound Treatment Program

Much of the success of your treatment depends on you. Follow your treatment plan directions carefully and watch your progress closely between visits. Anytime you or your family members have questions, our staff is available. In fact, we encourage you to ask questions. Our experienced staff is specially trained in all types of wound care, and we are committed to providing extensive patient education in managing the care of wounds, proper use of wound bandages, and preventing recurrence.

How The McLaren Wound Care Clinic Works with Your Physician

McLaren Wound Care Clinic works closely with physicians across Michigan who refer their patients to the clinic for care. We will discuss your treatment program with your primary care physician and keep him or her updated on your progress unless instructed otherwise. Remember, you'll need to keep seeing your primary care physician for routine medical care.
