Patient and Visitor Information

At McLaren Flint, we recognize that family engagement is a very valuable part of the healing process. Our team wants your visit to be the most comfortable it can be. Whether you're being cared for as a patient, or just visiting a loved one, please refer to the various information regarding visitation hours and guidelines.

Visiting Hours and Guidelines

General Visiting Hours

8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Emergency Department

- Each ER patient and admitted patient may have two healthy adults at the bedside at one time.

Critical Care Units (ICU)

- Critical Care areas, which include ICU, CCU, and 2C NICU, are from 8:00 a.m. to noon and 4:00 p.m. to 08:00 p.m.

Surgical and Procedural

- Surgical and Procedural: Two healthy visitors before and after surgery.
- Outpatient Procedures (Including Lab and Imaging): Two healthy visitors.

Behavioral Health Unit (BHU)

- Behavioral health patients may have two Adult Visitors, four times per week (Tues., Thurs., Sat., and Sun 2 p.m. -3 p.m.).

Labor and Delivery

- Labor and Delivery: Two healthy visitors may remain with the laboring mother. Two healthy support people may visit following delivery.

Pediatric Patients

- Pediatric patients may have up to two Parents/Guardians.

Visitor Guidelines

  • Visitors are asked to remain home if they have signs/symptoms of COVID or other illnesses.
  • All patients in Droplet Precautions for illnesses such as COVID-19, influenza, pertussis, or meningitis, are limited to two visitors per day.
  • For your safety, visitors entering droplet precaution rooms must wear a mask while in the room. (The patient is encouraged to wear a mask when visitors are present.)
  • Visitors should remain with the patient in their room unless asked otherwise by the clinical team.
  • Visitation for patients in Airborne Precautions such as TB or measles will be permitted on a case-by-case basis.
  • Children who are visiting will need to be supervised at all times while in the building.

All Visitors who enter will (be):

  • Register their name and indicate the patient they are visiting.
  • Issued a color-coded visitor badge with the visit date.
    • Green bar = Inpatient visitation
    • Red bar = ED patients

Amenities

McLaren Flint provides families the basic amenities listed below and more.
- Valet Parking: This service is available to our patients and visitors. Located at the main entrance, it can be accessed Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost for this service is $5 per vehicle.

Cafeteria

The medical center's cafeteria is located on the ground floor in the north building.

Monday - Friday: 7:00 am - 11:00 am and 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Weekends: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm
Vending Machines: Vending machines are available in several patient care waiting rooms as well as in the seating area of the 1st floor cafe.

  • The direct care nurse on your treatment unit
  • The charge nurse on your treatment unit, or the nursing supervisor

Patient Satisfaction

You may be contacted by Press Ganey to complete a survey. Press Ganey a vendor we use to collect data for HCAHPS. The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Health Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey is backed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The survey is used to improve the quality of healthcare. HCAHPS makes survey results public so hospitals are aware of where changes are needed. The results also enable healthcare consumers to review and compare hospitals before choosing a healthcare provider. Please contact the Quality Manager at (810) 342-CARE (2273). If you are not satisfied with the response, you may submit a letter with the following information:

  • Complainant’s name, address, and telephone number
  • Facility name and location
  • Patient name and location
  • Nature of complaint
  • Date of incident

A complete inpatient, outpatient surgery, or emergency record is securely kept in the Medical Records Department. You have the right to access this information, and McLaren ensures its confidentiality according to HIPAA Federal laws.

Obtain your records electronically via our patient portal, or request physical copies through mail, fax, or in-person at your McLaren/Karmanos facility.
