Our licensed oncology social worker provides professional support to patients and families, addressing their emotional and psychosocial needs and connecting them with community resources. Support groups and one-on-one consultations are available to patients and their families touched by cancer. Grief Support

The Masking Grief Circle - The Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Flint offers this grief support group for families touched by cancer. Those battling the disease, survivors, previvors, caregivers, family and friends are welcome to attend the free one-hour sessions.

The group meets the first Wednesday of each month:

New Tomorrows Grief Support Group - McLaren Flint offers free ongoing grief education and support for anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. For information, call (810) 496-8625.

Art Therapy

In-person and online weekly programs

Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Flint offers a free art therapy program for people touched by cancer. This includes all cancer fighters, survivors, previvors, caregivers, and their friends and family. Art therapy is a visual form of expression used to help people process emotions, reduce stress, and find meaning after a cancer diagnosis. Group and one-on-one sessions are offered each week, both online and in-person. No prior art experience is needed.

Stroke Education and Support

The McLaren Stroke Network offers a free education and support program series for stroke patients and their loved ones, people at high risk for stroke, and the community. The first half of the meeting is reserved for the education series, stroke, therapies and treatment, and prevention. There will also be time for attendees’ questions. The second half of the meeting is dedicated to sharing and support for survivors, their loved ones, and caregivers.

The McLaren Stroke Network is pleased to provide access to the stroke education and support series to as many patients and caregivers in Michigan as possible, by offering sessions in person and online.
