Rotations

PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents are given 12 total months of elective time.

Recommended Electives include: Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Hematology, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Urology, Ophthalmology, Allergy/Asthma, Podiatry, Sports Medicine, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Dermatology, General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Mental Health

Clinics

The Family Medicine resident continuity clinic is a 4500 square-foot facility located just minutes from the hospital.
Under the supervision of board-certified faculty, residents benefit from true continuity experiences by providing longitudinal care to their own panel of patients beginning the first year of residency.
Family First provides on-site x-ray, laboratory services, procedure rooms, and OMT tables.
Family First is an approved Blue Cross Blue Shield Patient Centered Medical home.
The clinic is conveniently located just a few minutes away from the hospital.

Family Medicine residents staff the McLaren Macomb Medical Outreach Clinic, a fully equipped clinic on wheels that provides quality, free health care to the uninsured populations in our community.
The mobile clinic features two exam rooms, a reception and charting area, restroom, and a counseling area.
Serves people with urgent or chronic illnesses, such as hypertension, diabetes, upper respiratory infections, influenza, and a variety of family medicine related issues.

How to Apply

Application Method

Applications to the McLaren Macomb Family Medicine Residency program are only accepted through the ERAS system. Only complete applications are reviewed.

The program will be participating in the NRMP for the 2020-2021 Academic Year.

Qualification of Candidate Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

Medical students enrolled in an educational program provided by a college of medicine or osteopathic medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) leading to the MD or DO degree.
Be a US citizen.
Have legal residency status and eligibility to work in the US.

Selection Process

We are listed in ERAS as the McLaren Health Care/Macomb/MSU, Family Medicine (ACGME number 1020500744). This is the only place where applicants for interviews are selected. Applications are reviewed by the program administrator, program director, and associate program director. Those selected with then be contacted by the academic administrator with an invitation to interview.

Interviews

Applicants will be notified to interview by invitation ONLY. The family medicine interviews will be held virtually. All applicants will interview with the program director and associate program director, along with any other faculty or residents the program director feels necessary. Details regarding the program will be sent out once an applicant has accepted and scheduled an interview.

Scholarly Activities

Residents participate in scholarly activities and quality improvement projects, present at conferences, and submit manuscripts for publication.

Training includes CITI, iRIS for submission to IRB, corporate scholarly activity boot camp, and modules from Statewide Campus System (MSUCOM).
