McLaren Oakland Behavioral Health Program
Our program is comprised of two secure inpatient psychiatric units for the treatment of adults and seniors:
Adult Behavioral Health Unit:
Our 27 Bed Unit services adults who have a major psychiatric diagnosis including, but not limited to, mood disorders, schizophrenia spectrum disorders and other psychotic disorders.
Senior Behavioral Health Unit:
Our 13 Bed Unit provides services to geriatric patients ages 65 and older. This program was designed to meet the unique needs of seniors, who in addition to having a diagnosis of mental illness may also have a co-occurring dementia diagnosis.

Our multi-disciplinary team establishes a structured, supportive and safe environment where patients learn to identify problem areas and develop solutions. Combined with education and therapy, patients build skills for improved mental health and quality community living. Our team includes:

Getting Help
We accept adults and geriatric patients meeting admission criteria upon completion of a referral. Patients can be referred by the emergency room, physician, therapist or nursing home. Each patient must be accepted and medically cleared before admission.

Cost and Insurance
Our services are covered in whole or part by most major insurance plans and Medicare. Since plans vary in coverage, family members and individuals are encouraged to discuss details with our staff and the hospital's financial services.
