McLaren Flint, the 378-bed tertiary care teaching hospital serving all of Genesee County, has been designated by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) as a Blue Distinction Center+ for Cardiac Care. Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care® is a resource created to identify facilities with proven expertise in delivering specialty care.
“McLaren Flint is proud to have met the rigorous selection criteria that has been set by the Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care program,” states Chad Grant, President and CEO of McLaren Flint. “McLaren has long been the leading provider of cardiovascular care in our region. This cardiac designation reinforces our commitment to provide the highest quality, cost-effective care to our patients.”
This is the fifth area of Blue Distinction Center+ recognition for McLaren Flint, which also has Blue Distinction Center+ designations for Knee and Hip Replacement, Maternity Care, Bariatric Surgery and Spine Surgery.
The Blue Distinction Centers program was developed with input from the medical community and evaluates hospitals’ specialty care and their ability to deliver high-quality outcomes. Those centers recognized by the Blue Distinction Centers program “have a proven history of exceptional care and results.”
As stated on the Blue Distinction Center website, by earning the distinction, “these centers demonstrate better quality care, improved patient outcomes, including lower complication rates following certain cardiac procedures.”
