Community Leaders Support McLaren Grand Ledge ER Development

With the development of the Grand Ledge Emergency Department and ambulatory care campus underway in Delta Township, McLaren Greater Lansing is expanding its ability to provide extraordinary care to our community.

To support the new project, the McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation recently established the Grand Ledge Community Health Fund. The fund will help bolster the development of the new freestanding ED and medical facility through major financial gifts from community leaders.

Local business leaders Dave Mohnke and Ed MacKenzie have become the founding leaders of the fund and made significant financial contributions to support the new facility.

When asked why he contributed to the project, Mohnke explained that he has been hoping to get an ER facility in Grand Ledge for several years. He believes it will be a “benefit to all in the community” and stated, “I think it’s going to be great for businesses and employees to have this right next door. If someone gets hurt, they can just pop down to Nixon Road. It really is needed.”

McLaren Greater Lansing is incredibly grateful for the leadership and support of Mohnke and MacKenzie because their gifts will make a positive impact on patients and families in our community. With their contributions, McLaren has already begun purchasing new equipment for the ED facility, such as the Lucas Chest Compression System. This device helps eliminate human error in chest compression depth and rate and is commonly used at McLaren to allow for consistent quality compressions. Providing high-quality chest compressions during cardiac arrest is the number one way to increase a patient’s chance for survivability.

The $40 million construction will be anchored by a freestanding emergency department and include additional clinical space, increasing access to commonly used and in-demand health services.

If you are interested in contributing to this initiative, The McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation is seeking individual and corporate leaders who wish to make gifts in support of this project. With the generosity of community leaders like Dave Mohnke and Ed MacKenzie, McLaren Greater Lansing can enhance its ability to provide extraordinary care to our community.
