The Wendorf Award was created by the McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation in 2017 and is named in memory of a longtime supporter of the hospital who understood the importance of giving back to the community. Individuals chosen to receive the award are recognized for their commitment to providing high-quality and compassionate care to patients.
This year, the Janet M. Wendorf Outstanding Caregiver Award was honored to Dr. Tiffany Wyatt, a third-year internal medicine resident. Dr. Wyatt’s process improvement initiatives during the downtime outage were recognized by fellow providers, nursing staff, attending physicians, and administration for going above and beyond to provide outstanding patient care.
Additionally, Dr. Wyatt’s procedures created during the downtime helped with workflow to make sure patients were being well cared for. These procedures were also adopted across all 14 hospitals in the McLaren Health System.
Internal medicine program director, Dr. Aaron Bohrer was not surprised to see the recognition awarded to Dr. Wyatt stating, “It is well-deserved. We see her dedication for patient safety and ownership of patient care every day.”
McLaren Greater Lansing leadership, the Wendorf family, coworkers, and Dr. Wyatt’s family and friends gathered in the Wendorf courtyard on September 18, to present her the award.
“I am incredibly honored to receive this award,” said Dr. Wyatt. “I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the family of Janet Wendorf for their generosity and kindness in her memory. My personal philosophy for caring for all patients has been to treat them as if they are family. As a caregiver, I believe it is my role to provide patients with the highest level of care possible. I pride myself on my attention to detail and ability to advocate for my patients in all circumstances.”
Dr. Wyatt went on to state, “I am thankful for my colleagues who noticed and recognized my hard work and dedication to patient care. My unwavering determination, compassion, leadership, and service to others are virtues that align with the memory of Janet M. Wendorf.”
