McLaren Northern Michigan Increases Access to Timely Care, Announces Urgent Care

McLaren Northern Michigan, part of statewide McLaren Health Care, has announced its plans to expand the community’s access to timely care with the opening of an urgent care center in Petoskey.

Located within McLaren Northern Michigan MedCenter – South (1890 US-131 in Petoskey), the urgent care expansion is scheduled to open in March.

“We are very excited to share our plans to launch an urgent can and increase our community’s access to timely care,” said Gar Atchison, McLaren Northern Michigan President and CEO. “With this enhancement of services, we are taking steps to ensure our patients are provided with a convenient avenue to receive the appropriate level of prompt care for non-life-threatening conditions. We are delighted to be in this position and truly believe this expansion will be a great benefit to Petoskey, its wellbeing, and further affirm our commitment to serve the needs of our community.”

Featuring seven treatment rooms in addition to a procedure room, the urgent care will be staff with a full complement of providers and care team capable of administering prompt treatment to patients with a range of conditions: viral illnesses, lacerations requiring stitches, and minor orthopedic injuries, including bone breaks and fractures not requiring surgery, among other common, non-life-threatening conditions.

X-ray imaging will be available on-site, and the primary care clinic located within the same office will continue its care of patients. The urgent care will operate 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

“The focus and motivation of our expansion efforts are always aimed toward projects that conveniently develop patients’ connection to their care,” said Chad Grant, McLaren Health Care Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “With this expansion, McLaren is keeping and strengthening its commitment to serve the patients and families of Petoskey and the surrounding communities and provide them with the level of care they deserve.”
