“From your annual mammogram to surviving cancer, we are here for you every step of the way.”
McLaren Greater Lansing has received national accreditation for its breast care center by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Affiliated with the American College of Surgeons, the NAPBC is a nonprofit organization that identifies and recognizes breast centers providing high-quality care in the United States.
“We are a comprehensive breast care center where patients can expect high-quality care and compassionate staff members,” said Suzanne Hanses, DO, surgeon at the McLaren Greater Lansing Breast Care Center. “From your annual mammogram to surviving cancer, we are here for you every step of the way.”
According to the American College of Surgeons, programs that are accredited by the NAPBC follow a model for breast care to ensure multidisciplinary, integrated and comprehensive breast cancer services.
The Breast Care Center at McLaren provides women with access to a range of Board-certified specialists, including surgeons, radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, genetic counselors and even a patient navigator. Whether provided or referred, the services must meet or exceed the standards written by the NAPBC Board.
“Even though our breast care center offers a large range of services that are helpful for all patients, one of the most important services we offer for breast cancer patients is our breast care navigator,” said Troy Ferguson, DO, surgeon at the McLaren Greater Lansing Breast Care Center. “Not only does Sarah (Barber), our breast cancer navigator, provide hope, her expertise helps patients navigate their care, relieving some of the stress and giving patients more time to focus on healing.”
