Since 2009, the American College of Radiology (ACR) has recognized McLaren Port Huron Women's Wellness Place as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. This designation puts McLaren Port Huron Women's Wellness Place into an elite group of breast imaging centers in Michigan, Port Huron and the entire Thumb area - to achieve the exceptional status of ACR Center of Excellence.
By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College's voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
The breast imaging services at Women's Wellness Place are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. According to officials at ACR, peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that Women's Wellness Place has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment and technology, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
