McLaren Northern Michigan Earns Cardiac Surgery Excellence, Additional Specialty Care Awards

McLaren Northern Michigan, part of statewide McLaren Health Care and a 5-star rated hospital by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, has again been recognized for the proficiency of its care by earning a Cardiac Surgery Excellence Award from Healthgrades, a nationwide leader in consumer health care information and ratings.

McLaren Northern Michigan, which serves 22 counties, also earned:

America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Spine Surgery

Pulmonary Care Excellence Award

“These recognitions for the specialty care provided in our hospital are a testament to the dedication and deep expertise of our care teams,” said Gar Atchison, McLaren Northern Michigan President and CEO. “It certainly is a privilege to see how our programs positively impact the community and its collective wellbeing, and we view these honors as more than accomplishments but rather as acknowledgement of our organization’s contribution to the welfare of the region.”

Healthgrades analyzes publicly available patient outcome data, as well as other quality metrics in order to objectively evaluate clinical outcomes and patient safety when developing its ratings.

Measuring and scoring patients’ clinical care and outcomes, overall patient safety and experience alongside other quality measurements as the basis of its criteria, Healthgrades compared more than 4,400 hospitals across the United States.

These recognitions are the latest in what has been a succession of national and industrywide recognitions earned by McLaren Northern Michigan over the past year, which have included a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and inclusion on the Fortune and PINC AI list of Top 100 Hospital.
