McLaren Northern Michigan recognized as a top Michigan hospital

McLaren Northern Michigan, part of McLaren Health Care and a CMS 5-star rated hospital, has been recognized by Newsweek as one of the top hospitals in Michigan as part of its America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2024 list. The inaugural consumer guide list ranks 600 hospitals from across the country, ordering them by state and Washington DC.

McLaren Northern Michigan’s placement on the list ranks it among the top 15 of the state’s 130-plus hospitals.

“Providing high-quality and effective treatment and delivering it in a safe and compassionate environment is Northern’s commitment to our community of patients seeking care,” said Dr. Andrew McDonagh, McLaren Northern Michigan Chief Medical Officer. “The dedication and competence shown by each care team member allows us to fulfil this commitment. It is with this team that we collective share this recognition.”

Hospitals were scored based on recommendations from peers — fellow health care professionals from both in the state and outside of the state, while also not allowing recommendations for one’s employer. Patient experience, quality metrics, and patient outcomes were also weighted and considered in calculating a final ranking score.

“We are fortunate and grateful to have a team of professionals who are so attuned to the needs of the community and eager to provide for them,” said Dr. Justin Klamerus, McLaren Health Care Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer. “Rankings and recognitions are never the ultimate goal, though the confidence they provide for our community in knowing it has convenient access to high-quality health care is a benefit unto itself. My sincere congratulations to the team with McLaren Northern Michigan.”
